Make a Pliable Wax for Bronze Casting and Sculpting

While paraffin is a fantastic standalone wax, adding a small amount of microcrystalline wax (microwax) can dramatically improve its performance for specific applications. Due to its very fine crystal structure, microwax makes paraffin wax more tacky, more opaque, and harder – depending on the melting point of the particular microwax.  Microwaxes also have a higher molecular weight than paraffin waxes.

It is one of the key ingredient for formulating a pliable wax for sculpting and bronze casting. This 25kg bulk size is ideal for production businesses, e.g. bronze casters.

Common Applications & Recommended Blends

• For a Dripless Overdip: Create a blend of approximately 80% paraffin and 20% microwax.
• For Sculpting/Modelling Wax: Start with a blend of 60% paraffin and 40% microwax and adjust to achieve your desired pliability.
• For Hurricane Candle Shells: A typical starting ratio is 70% microwax to 30% paraffin.
