Create Your Own Vegan, Hand Poured Soy Candles in 5 Simple Steps
Step 1 : Choose eco-friendly candle containers that you enjoy
When selecting containers for your vegan, hand-poured soy candles, opt for environmentally friendly options such as recycled glass containers, ceramic containers, or travel tins. Ensure that the containers are heat-resistant and suitable for candle-making.
Step 2: Gather your supplies
Collect all the necessary materials for making soy candles, including:
soy wax flakes, a soy fragrance oil, soy candle wicks, glue dots,
a wick centering tool, and a heat-resistant melting pot or wax melter if you’re a professional.
Step 3: Prepare your workspace
Set up a clean and organized workspace with a flat surface for easy candle-making.
Make sure you have access to a microwave or stove for melting the soy wax.
Step 4: Start creating your soy candles
Place the cotton wick at the bottom centre of the container and secure it with a glue dot, or a small amount of melted soy wax.
Melt approximately 170g (about a cupful) soy wax flakes in the microwave or on an electric stove.
Add the soy fragrance oil to the melted wax and stir gently to combine.
Carefully pour the scented wax into the container, filling it about three-quarters full.
Use the wick centering tool to keep the wick upright and in the middle of the container.
Set the candles aside to cool and set.
